JESSI MALAY BIO

Born in the entertainment capital of the world, Jessi Malay personifies tradition with exuberance. From listening to stories of her grandfather playing Carnegie Hall in the 1st grade to leading the Kidpower tour in Disneyworld at age eight, Jessi Malay never started performing because her family never stopped.

Rooted in many cultures grounds Jessie Malay. With a biracial background and a multiracial family tree, Jessi Malay grew from the varied influences in every direction imaginable. When Jessi was not watching her mother dance Filipino Folk rhythms, she was experiencing her uncle’s 27-piece orchestra. If she was not dancing salsa and hip-hop, she was listening to her grandmother sing jazz. Jessi Malay answered her many callings by listening to only one—her own.

How the twig is bent, so grows the tree. Thrust into the world of dance early on opened Jessi’s eyes to a bigger world of expression and performance. She danced. She sang. She toured. She recorded. She signed record deals. She expressed herself. She performed. Jessi Malay’s many early milestones from the ’00 Olympic opening ceremonies at age nine to the teen pop-girl group No Secrets at age 14 to the JR Rotem produced records at age eighteen demonstrate her drive and seasoned skill set.
